Live music roundup
It's been a pretty busy 12 months or so for live music and although I have pushed out a few Tweets, I thought I'd do a proper round up on here. However, I've left it so long that I really can't do proper write ups of all the acts, so I'm just listing who I've seen since the start of 2009. Dull, I know. Maybe I'll get some proper reviews done in future....
So, I saw an Abba tribute in March '09 who were pretty good, April was an Indian Classical music double bill and Rumours of Fleetwood Mac tribute band. 10cc in May, Naturally 7 in June, James Morrison at Durham CCC's Riverside Ground in July along with incredible guitarist Preston Reed and a latin double bill including pianist Roberto Fonseca and brilliant Columbian Salsa band La-33. September saw some Taiko Drummers at The Sage, and October was a busy month with the other incredible guitarist Newton Faulkner, the real Fleetwood Mac at Manchester Arena and the awesome Buena Vista Social Club. The irrepressible folk duo Spiers & Boden came along in November with Bucks Fizz in December. The Transatlantic Sessions were at The Sage in February 2010, Seth Lakeman in March and Woody Pines at Cluny 2 in April.
To come over the next couple of months are Gaelic singer Julie Fowlis, and I've got Seth Lakeman lined up again at the recently renovated Whitley Bay Playhouse, as well as James Morrison at Tynemouth Priory both as part of the Mouth of the Tyne Festival.
Lots and lots of music.... happy days!
